SISU School Concert Tour - Feb 19, 2010
SISU, a percussion ensemble from Norway, returned to Nepal following a successful series of concerts and workshops during their first visit in 2008. This time around, they performed a series of school concerts aimed at children between the ages of seven and thirteen. The title of their performance, “Friendship”, was composed by Torbjorn Grass with the intention of demonstrating through music and movement the challenges friends may face and how these can be addressed. After playing a welcome concert at NMC and conducting a workshop on school concerts for NSV staff, the band began a six-day road trip with stops for school concerts in Pokhara (Bhadrakali School), Sanischare (Deep Jyoti School), Biratnagar (Gurukul), and Sanga (Mahendra Madhyamik Vidhyalaya). Their visit ended with a farewell concert by NSV teachers, which the group enjoyed tremendously and cite as the highlight of their trip. For more on SISU’s time in Nepal, see the News section.
